Mission

To facilitate and encourage the maintenance and development of deity worship according to Srila Prabhupada’s example and teachings by offering education, resources and guidance to inspire and nourish devotees' desire to worship the deity form of the Lord, and to help foster within ISKCON the corresponding brahmana Vaisnava culture centered on the service and worship of the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna.

Goals

  • To promote awareness of the importance of deity worship in ISKCON, and to provide a learning forum that stimulates and inspires devotees to engage in the process of deity worship based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada.
  • To expand the availability of training, guidance, communication and inspiration for devotees worldwide (specifically within the field of deity worship)
  • To establish an Academy in Mayapur to train pujaris and brahmanas of exemplary character and ability
  • To establish a range of online courses training devotees in the practices of worship at home.
  • To assist the development of a worldwide network of educators and mentors to train and inspire devotees to achieve the goals and values of the process of deity worship and brahminical culture.

Details

ISKCON Deity Worship Ministry was established by the ISKCON Governing Body Commission and has been active since 1995. Since its inception ISKCON Deity Worship Ministry has been actively engaged in training and regularly conducts courses on home and temple worship in ISKCON centers around the world.

After Kartika 2007 ISKCON Deity Worship Ministry in conjunction with the Mayapur Deity Department will inaugurate the Mayapur Academy. This Academy will offer advanced training for pujaris and brahmanas. The units presented in the Academy will cover all facets of temple worship in ISKCON as well as the development of brahminical culture and ethics.
